Sworn To Quell: Courtlight #10

Ciardis Weathervane witnessed the collapse of her empire’s system of governance. Because everything pivoted on the rule of one man. Now she must forge a new path. Through the madness. Through the chaos.

Still with the imperial palace in ruins, and the coalition between the nobles and the rebellion falling apart, there is no more time. No time to rule. No time to justify.

The god was here for retribution, and her triad would be forced to rise to the occasion or fall under its own bluster.

With an emperor dead, a prince heir uncrowned, and a people lost in the wilderness of death and destruction every which way they turn, Ciardis faces her most challenging assignment yet. Picking up the pieces. Mending the coalition. Winning the hearts and minds of Sebastian’s people. The people she could now call her own.

The heavens have come to earth. It remains to be seen if the earth will fall before its might.

Also in relevant news, the 10th book in the Courtlight series is coming in October 2016. However I need to do some further revisions and edits, so I am pushing back the Amazon release date. I’d much rather add more to the book and make it a purchase that will blow you away than to just push something out that isn’t the best book I can write. So another 20,000 words to go and you’ll have your sequel to Sworn To War! Woohoo.

For those of you expecting the release of Quell in the next two weeks, sorry to dissapoint but I promise its going to be awesome. I’m lining up the best beta readers and development team as well to knock this out of the park.

However, I’m not leaving you high and dry. While you won’t get Sworn To Quell in the next 10-12 days, you will get LILLIAN IN HEELS. The short story I promised you that would explore the life of Lillian Weathervane before she became the mother of our most infamous protagonist. The story is finished, has been approved by beta readers, and is with my short story editor currently.

You’ll get to read all 8,350 words of Lillian’s mini-story this Friday! If you’re a member of mailing list (terahedun.com/news) you will receive a PDF download of the short story in your email two days in advance. So sign up today!

Lastly, if I’m not here on the blog then you can always find me on Twitter or Instagram. I’ve been having some great fun with readers from all around the world. Best of Bookish Gifts: Store Sale AND T-Shirts Galore

09/03/16: Wow, I’ve already gotten emails from Canada and the UK asking for the Support Packs. So I’ve added international shipping. Enjoy!

Somehow I never got around to announcing that I have a new store:

http://www.teedun.com/store

There you’ll be able to find a few bookish related items such as jewelry, signed books, and branded satin bags to go along with your reads from me. I’m trying to keep the selection small (and shipping to U.S. Only) as I don’t have a ton of time to keep an eye on dozens of items. I think the bracelets are quite pretty but today I’m most excited to announce the product on the top of the store list! That’s right, we’re now offering new SUPPORT PACKS – in regular ($9.99) and mega-support variety. 😉

Sworn To War: Courtlight #9 is LIVE

Ciardis Weathervane is facing a war on two fronts. One with the dragons. One with the deities.

She is ready to face the god that they’ve known was coming for months, but the people that she thought would coalesce around her are faltering under the pressure, the lies, and the deceit.

She knows that the very foundation between ruler, nobility, and commoner had fractured down to its core. Now the capital city and its people need to be reforged, bound in fire before they’re consumed by brimstone.

But the citizens of the empire need more than a speech to believe in the rulers that betrayed them just days before. With their empire on the line, Sebastian lays out his first ruling edict which may be more than even he bargained for.

As Sandrin comes together once more before the final struggle, the daemoni prince is struck down and the princess heir-in-waiting has doubts as to whether they can forge a more perfect union without the one that completes their souls.

With Thanar trapped in purgatory while they fight to resurrect the city that gave them lifeCiardis and Sebastian are in a battle to the death against a god bent on living forever.

Supporting Girls Any Way I Can

It’s one of those fast/slow weeks in-between releases when I’m drafting like crazy but not yet bogged down by release week preparations. So I’m going to share part of an email I got from a school in Florida.

“I am the Executive Director of a school for at-risk Girls called PACE Center for Girls. We are located in Polk County, FL. Our girls are currently doing an Accelerated reading program and many have started to read your series.”

Firstly, hats off to all the teachers and educators and librarians who have somehow found their way to my small corner of the universe. It’s a treat every time I hear from one of you. The letter continues on and after I connected back with the Executive Director I agreed to share materials with the PACE Center in Polk.

So I’m sending those lovely girls three hardcovers (books I’ve purchased myself), bookmarks, cards, and lots of love – because its important to support girls nationwide and I want to do all I can to help with that cause. And big thank you to the PACE Center for reaching out and to the amazing girls who are reading my books!

If you are a Teacher, Librarian, Educator or Bookseller, as always my inbox is open! Reach out to Rachel @ assistant@terahedun.com. I’d love to work with you in any capacity, especially in support of young readers.

Sworn To Sovereignty: Courtlight #8 is LIVE + Blades Of Magic: Crown Service #1

Hello all,

I am thrilled to let you know that Sworn To Sovereignty is now live on all retailers. You should know that we’re back in the imperial courts of Sandrin now and massive plans are happening. Rebellion among them. There is also an imperial wedding in the works, so enjoy Book 8 and get ready for the battle to come!

/\/\/\All links above but Kobo is having issues with processing this week so there’s a small delay on that retail site./\/\/\

Ciardis Weathervane has one simple rule – win the first fight, then move on to the next. But she’s finding out that the citizens of Sandrin have other plans in mind.

When she returns to the imperial capital city, she finds that nothing is as she left it. Only a week has passed and yet chaos reins. Vana Cloudbreaker has been attacked and surprisingly, she did not come out on top.

The woman Ciardis thought was invincible stands a broken shell of what she once was and Ciardis isn’t entirely sure what or who was the cause of the fabled assassin’s derailment.

To top it off, the revolutionary party is determined to make itself known, starting with a call for an impostor emperor to vacate his throne. They couldn’t have chosen a worse time to start their revolution. Right when the noble societies at court are ready to throw their support to the prince heir and princess heir-in-waiting against the blutgott itself.

Now revolutionaries and courtiers are at odds, but even strangerthe duchess of Carne stands among the revolutionary guard. Ciardis is faced with the predicament of saving an empire and sacrificing a revolution, all while facing down a clock that has run out of the time.

The gods are here and there’s nothing that she nor anyone else can do to stop them.

———————–

Last but not least, I’ve pulled Blades Of Magic: Crown Service #1 from Kindle Unlimited and it is now available on ALL retailers, including Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Google Play, and iBooks.

If you’ve never read the Crown Service series, you’re in for a treat. It’s set centuries before the start of the Courtlight series and features a warborn protagonist by the name of Sara Fairchild. She is hard where Ciardis sweet, cunning where the Weathervane is trusting, and above all bent on revenge for crown and empire! Links to Crown Service here: teedun.com/crownservice

My next publishing update will be about Blades Of Illusion: Crown Service #2 and the release of Sworn To War: Courtlight #9!

A Deleted Scene from Sworn To Sovereignty

Recently on Twitter I mentioned a deleted scene from Sworn To Sovereignty, in which loyalties are questioned and motives are undermined. The scene was cut from the book for the sake of keeping the narrative moving, but its an interesting piece that I still like. This week I spoke with the Chicago Book Examiner (again) about my work as an author and how I write my books, so this seemed appropriate. The second Examiner interview will be live in the coming few weeks but I can tell you that they gave me a pretty exciting official review for Sworn To Raise now:

Chicago Books Examiner praises Sworn To Raise “First of series raises expectations for young adult genre”

Here you go! Enjoy. I’ll be posting buy links with the reveal of Chapters 1 and 2 soon.

How does this help us? This constant bickering? This distrust. Anytime we encounter a new foe it rears its ugly head like a hydra who can’t be destroyed? Ciardis mused to herself wearily.

But Sebastian answered her anyway. By weeding out friend or foe. We need to make our alliance stronger. We need to know where we stand and who we can trust.

“We can trust Terris.”

“Because she’s your friend?” He said in a soft voice.

Ciardis felt ire and then anger build in her gaze. She didn’t bother softening that look however, she didn’t care who saw.

“She saved my life numerous times, all of our lives not even a week ago.”

Sebastian nodded and said, “Now we shall see if she’s willing to do more than risk her life and our own. Let’s see if she’s willing to risk her soul to protect her empire.”

Ciardis raised an eyebrow. “You mean to protect you.”

“The motives are one and the same,” he replied.

Ciardis took an uncomfortable step back and held up a forestalling hand. “No Sebastian, they’re not. Not this time. Not in this place.”

Sebastian cocked a quizzical head and looked at her. “Do you really believe that?”

Ciardis looked at him straight in the face and said, “I trust my friends. I trust Terris. She is loyal. She is kind. She, above all, is not someone whose motives I want to question. I might as well as question my own heart if I was to question hers.”

The Tweets Keep Coming – @tedunwrites + Hardcovers

If you haven’t checked out my Twitter posts yet, you should follow along! I’ve been sharing some of the swag that’s on order for librarians for the Summer Reading giveaway! I also love to share tidbits from my writing, the latest book of course being Sworn To Sovereignty: Courtlight #8.

In other news, we’re starting to see Sworn To Raise hardcovers pop-up in libraries nationwide (here we are in Alabama, Colorado, & Virginia) so I figured its time I do an ‘official’ reveal!

Beautiful, glossy, lovely pictures at the base. But first…some news. ^.^

This spring I announced a new cover for Sworn To Raise when we revealed the beautiful new trailer located here:

That trailer has since gotten 15,000+ views and has been a fan favorite. I couldn’t be more pleased!

“The trailer gave me goosebumps!! even though I have now read all 7 of the current books I cannot wait to own a physical copy!! #ShatterAnEmpire!”

So I’m here to officially announce a new special edition hardcover for the Courtlight series!!

New Hardcover Comp Design

As you may or may not have realized, I’m not the type of author to constantly change their covers. Once I make them they’re set and I can move on to things like formatting the paperback for publication, putting together swag pieces for the books, and distributing the title to as many venues as possible. The cover becomes the representation of the series wherever its seen and I’d say the original cover for Sworn To Raise has done a pretty good job of that so far.

But I was so excited that SWORN TO RAISE has been picked up in an exclusive distribution deal with Ingram, that I had to have a new cover designed to celebrate this release into hardcover! I hope you love the new cover design as much as I do and that you’ll enjoy reading Ciardis’s story in print. To celebrate the new hardcovers and (coming) bookstore launches, I’ll be doing some special swag giveaways later this summer.
